Green Webhost: DreamHost

Written by admin on May 5th, 2007 | Filed under: dreamhost, green living, green webhost

I think it is pretty cool that DreamHost has gone green. I can’t say that i fully understand what it means to be a green host, as i am still learning about the different environmental issues, but i duly note the effort, and the progressive nature of the move. DreamHost has always been a pretty liberal and fun organization, i use to host with them for a previous site i had, and i always looked forward to their off-beat wacky newsletters. This will be filed under green living. Any comments on this?

  1. Green could mean that they are using alternative fuels to power there servers like wind power or buying green credits from the electric company every month.
It is fabulous that companies are starting to do this, even if it for PR. What the public wants the public gets, ya know?

  2. hi—samantha: this is the first i’ve heard of a host employing this, and i don’t have anything negative to say about it, yet. more power to anyone (whether a business entity or individual) who advocates green living. it is what this planet needs more of. like i stated in my post, im not too savvy on the whole issue, but i am looking forward to learning about it.

  3. Hey what about having your web site powered by solar….AISO.Net is 100% solar powered, both our servers and data center are powered by onsite solar panels. Take a look at our web site and you can see our solar panels outside via a web cam. Plus we were in Inc. Magazines’ Top 50 Green Companies. Check us out at http://www.aiso.net
