The 4 Day Detox by Ian K. Smith

by on Friday, September 7th, 2012

THE 4 DAY DETOX will cleanse your body, help you lose weight fast, and focus your mind on what you can do when you commit to change.

Ian K. Smith, M.D. is the #1 bestselling author of The Fat Smash Diet and Extreme Fat Smash Diet. He has appeared on the Rachael Ray show, is the diet expert on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club”, is a medical contributor to many network news programs such as ABC’s “The View” and “The CBS Early Show”, and the creator of the national weight loss initiative “The 50 Million Pound Challenge”.

Who is the author?

The author is Ian K. Smith, M.D. The description calls him the number-one bestselling author of The Fat Smash Diet and Extreme Fat Smash Diet, says he has appeared on The Rachael Ray Show and was the diet expert on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club, and credits him with creating “The 50 Million Pound Challenge”.

What is this book about?

According to the description, the plan will “cleanse your body, help you lose weight fast, and focus your mind”. Those are the description’s promises, not claims made here, and the description gives no details of the plan itself.

What does the description say about the plan’s contents?

Very little. It says the plan asks you to commit to change, and it does not list the foods, steps or recipes.

This summary of the book description is not medical advice.

Why does a short “jump-start” diet often fade?

A plan lasting only a few days can change the scale quickly, mostly because of fluid and calories. The NCCIH fact sheet on detoxes and cleanses reports that a 2017 review said detox diets can cause early weight loss because of low calorie intake but tend to lead to weight gain after a normal diet resumes, and that a 2015 review found no compelling research that they eliminate toxins.

Your body already has a system for dealing with waste: the liver, kidneys and bowel work every day. Eating plenty of vegetables, fruit, whole grains and water, sleeping well and limiting alcohol supports them better than any short cleanse. For lasting change, the NIDDK guide to choosing a weight-loss program advises asking questions before joining a program.

Skip any plan that promises rapid change in weight or in the body’s chemistry. If you take medicines or have diabetes, kidney disease or a history of eating disorders, discuss changes with your doctor.

The Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet Apple Detox

by on Friday, September 7th, 2012

Eliminate toxins and sludge from your body to jump start any weight loss program.Report provides recipe for The Lemonade Diet, advice and alternatives.

What kind of book is The Master Cleanse Lemonade Diet Apple Detox?

The book description says the report provides the recipe for the Lemonade Diet, plus advice and alternatives.

What does the description promise?

It promises to “eliminate toxins and sludge” from the body to jump-start any weight loss program. That is the description’s claim and is not confirmed here.

This is a summary of the book description, not medical advice. The description is short, so check the Amazon page for the full contents.

What are the risks of fasting on juice or lemonade drinks?

Liquid-only plans leave out most nutrients and calories. The NCCIH detox page says fasting can cause headaches, fainting, weakness and dehydration, and that drinking large quantities of water and tea without food for days could lead to dangerous electrolyte imbalances.

The same page notes that laxatives, which some cleanses include, can cause diarrhoea, dehydration and poor absorption of nutrients, and that people with diabetes should follow the eating plan from their health care team. Weight lost on a very low-calorie plan is typically regained when normal eating returns.

The idea that you need to remove “toxins and sludge” is a marketing claim. The body clears waste itself, and the 2015 review the page cites found no compelling evidence otherwise. If your goal is weight loss, a doctor or dietitian can help you plan a safer approach. Rest and fluids matter more than any product.

If you want a gentler reset, ordinary advice is more useful: drink water, eat vegetables, fruit, whole grains and legumes, sleep enough and move daily. The liver and kidneys already do the clearing work. Anything that causes dizziness, vomiting or a racing heart is a sign to stop and get medical advice.

The Detox Strategy by Brenda Watson

by on Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Regardless of where and how you live, your body is harboring dozens if not hundreds of toxins that could be sabotaging your health. Low on energy? Dealing with chronic illness? Having trouble losing weight? Toxins might be to blame.

From your mattress to your toothpaste to your nonstick pans to the food you eat and the (bottled) water you drink, every day your body is bombarded with chemicals that can alter the way your body works, affecting its natural processes and capacity to heal and maintain vibrancy. Even though we are built to handle foreign substances effectively, our liver and other organs simply cannot cope with today’s glut of toxins, many of which are too foreign and toxic for our bodies to manage well. Ultimately this toxic overload can cause premature aging, weight gain, and a body prone to disease.

The Detox Strategy introduces us to the revolutionary RENEW program—Reduce, Eliminate, Nourish, Energize, and Wellness—which helps reverse the effects of aging and rejuvenate the body and mind. The program offers a holistic approach to protecting and nurturing your body’s innate purification physiology, resulting in a higher quality of life, more energy, and longevity.

The Detox Strategy includes a detailed herbal supplement plan for gently flushing out harmful toxins—including heavy metals like lead and mercury—plus delicious original recipes for nourishing meals that further promote detoxification. It provides an in-depth explanation of essential cleansing concepts that are researched and clinically proven and provides you with the necessary tools to live in a purer, more energized body. Brenda Watson wants you to know the truth about your body to help you live a longer and healthier life, and this easy-to-follow program can help jumpstart your system on a path to optimum wellness.
